About the District

Thalwil is not a district in Zurich per se but a municipality in the canton of Zurich, located between Lake Zurich and the Sihl River, along the A3 motorway from Zurich to Chur and Italy. It benefits however from quick transport links to the city thanks to Zurich S-Bahn S2, S8, S21 and S24 lines (10 to 15min from Thalwil railway station) as well as the Zimmerberg bus line.

A former farming village transformed by industrialisation, Thalwil is nowadays a dynamic town where companies like Unisys Corporation and Illy have located their headquarters. The excellent transport links to Zurich city centre and its many offices, like Credit Suisse, ABB Group, Google, IBM or Facebook, make it an excellent choice for families that want a quieter residential neighbourhood and Thalwil apartments for rent within easy reach of their workplace and everything the city has to offer.

For expats looking for convenient corporate housing, Thalwil is a popular choice too; both Thalwil’s and Zurich’s offices are only a short commute away, travelling locally and internationally to and from Thalwil is quick and easy thanks to the S-Bahn and Zurich Central station, and the town itself offers many amenities and a lively town centre.

About the District

Also called District 3, Wiedikon is Zurich’s favourite residential area and comprises Alt-Wiedikon, Sihlfeld and Friesenberg neighbourhoods. The district is also well connected to the rest of the city thanks to the A3 motorway and its railway station that is served by 3 Zürich S-bahn lines (S2,S8, S21).
