About the District
Also called District 3, Wiedikon is Zurich’s favourite residential area and comprises Alt-Wiedikon, Sihlfeld and Friesenberg neighbourhoods. Formerly a farming village, Wiedikon’s happy location next to the city centre between the Sihl river and Uetliberg mountain has transformed the district into a popular, up and coming area.
Wiedikon apartments benefit from the district’s many cosy cafés, busy restaurants, trendy shops and vintage stores, especially around Idaplatz in Sihlberg or Sihlcity shopping centre, as well as the proximity of nature and many scenic walks around Uetliberg in Friesenberg.
The district is also well connected to the rest of the city thanks to the A3 motorway and its railway station that is served by 3 Zürich S-bahn lines (S2,S8, S21). It is then no surprise that corporate housing in Wiedikon has become highly sought-after; the district calm but thriving atmosphere is perfect for families and young professionals alike and its excellent transport links provide an easy commute to the many international companies headquarters settled in Switzerland’s largest city and financial centre, like Google, IBM, Facebook, UBS Group, ABB Group and Glencore for instance.
