About the District
Madeleine is one of Paris’ quartiers chics. Located very centrally (8th arrondissement) on the right bank of the Seine (rive droite), it takes its name from the famous Greek temple-inspired church that sits in the middle of gastronomical shops and at the merging point of several luxury-stores-and-hotels-speckled Haussmann streets. Walk south to get to Place de la Concorde, walk east to reach Place Vendôme (in between you’ll find the Tuileries Gardens), walk west to stroll along famous Avenue des Champs-Elysées. Paris’ major sightseeings are all within walking distance, the rest of the capital is only a short metro ride away thanks to its 6 metro lines, and the country is accessible by train from St Lazare train station north of the district. It is also the location of many big companies headquarters such as Google, Facebook, AXA, Bouygues, HSBC, IMB and many others. It is the ideal district for business travellers looking for corporate housing around the sophisticated Madeleine or within a walking distance to their office.
